- This collection contains the muster roll for Company A of the 28th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteers from 28 February - 30 April 1862. The bottom portion of this muster roll is missing. The muster roll for Company I of the 55th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteers from June - 31 August 1863 is also included in this collection. These muster rolls include the names and ranks of the soldiers in each company as well as their pay information and other important notes on the soldiers. Also included are a blank muster roll and a small piece of paper with a list of unidentifiable court cases.
The 28th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteers was originally known as the 20th Regiment and formed during the Civil War in September 1861. The 55th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteers formed during the Civil War in the spring of 1862.
