- This collection consists of the muster roll of Company B, 3rd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry. It contains information on the members of Company B from April 26, 1862 to April 9, 1865. The muster roll gives a brief biography on the senior officers and basic information about the enlisted men. The captains were Reubeau B. Nisbet and John S. Reid. The 1st lieutenants were William W. Turner and William T. Reid. The 2nd lieutenants were William O'Brian; Robert A. Dennis; Reubin DeJanett; and L. C. Slade. The final tally listed eight commissioned officers, fifteen non-commissioned officers, and 111 privates.

Company B, 3rd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, also known as "Brown Rifles," was organized in Putnam County, Georgia, in April 1861. The 3rd Georgia Regiment served in the Army of Northern Virginia. Company B was originally led by Captain Reubeau B. Nisbet, but he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1862, and John S. Reid took his place as company commander. The 3rd Georgia Regiment was engaged in numerous battles and campaigns, including Second Manassas; Sharpsburg; Fredericksburg; Chancellorsville; Gettysburg Campaign; Wilderness Campaign; Spottsylvania; and Appomattox. The 3rd Georgia Regiment surrendered at Appomattox Court House with the Army of Northern Virginia in 1865.
