- This collection consists of two booklets entitled "Stories of the War" and "Reminiscences of the War." In these documents Prescott wrote about "yankees" torturing a man in order to discover where his money was hidden; and how her husband was called to war in 1862 and later how he faced down thirty armed deserters who planned to kill him. She also writes about how she hid valuables from "yankee" raids; an occasion when the "yankees" broke into her home and threatened her at gunpoint; the places to which she traveled and lived during the Civil War; and the letter she wrote for a dying soldier. She also tells stories of events that occurred after the war; and the difficulties caused after banks and businesses failed.
America's Turning Point: Documenting the Civil War Experience in Georgia received support from a Digitizing Historical Records grant awarded to the Atlanta History Center, Georgia Historical Society, Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and the Digital Library of Georgia by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
