- This collection contains military orders, a newspaper clipping, as well as business letters that Dr. Harden received. Included are a summons before an unidentified medical board for his appointment as a surgeon, a letter countermanding transfer orders, a letter about legal issues with Lew Stewart, and a letter to "Jessie" about her education.

Dr. William Preston Harden (1821-1885) was born to Claudine Antoinette and Dr. Robert Raymond Harden. Dr. Harden acted as a surgeon during the Civil War, serving in the Empire Hospital and the General Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He married Sara Jane Murray. Additional biographical information about Dr. William Preston Harden has not been determined.
