fv n L It will be noted that student fees produced 156 less income than for the pre
vious year and that this source of income produced only 271 of the total income for Educational and General purposes during 195152 as compared with 366 for the previous year It must be noted that the above comparison is based on income received during the two years rather than the income earned The student fees actually earned during the two years are compared in the following table

The above statement of student fees earned indicates that the statement of student fees collected is misleading in comparing student fees for the two years For example the student fees collected for the summer quarter were 31 less than the fees collected for the summer quarter of 195051 whereas the fees earned were only 89 below those earned for the summer quarter of the previous year It will be noted that the total fees earned during 195152 were 11 3 below the fees earned during the previous year A look at the enrollment statistics for the two years wil explain this reduction After reducing the total enrollment to an equivalent full time basis the average equivalent full time enrollment during the fall winter and spring quarters of 195152 for the various units of the University System was 16501 students as compared with 19165 during the same period for the previous year or a decline in enrollment of 152 During the summer quarter of 1951 the enrollment was 12165 equivalent full time students as compared with 12977 for the previous year This represents a decline of 63 in the enrollment for the summer quarter The total enrollment for the academic year and the summer quarter of 5152 computed on an equivalent full time basis was 136 below the enrollment
for 195051
Another significant change in the income for 195152 was in the amount collected from sales and services This increase was due in most part to the large increase in research services performed by the Experiment Station of the Georgia Institute of Technology Of the total increase 175118 was from that source
Mention has previously been made of the large increase in the State Appropriation for 195152 As will be noted from the above 8802000 of the total State Appropriation was allocated for Educational and General purposes This represents an increase of 11 1 over the amount allocated for Educational and General purposes in the previous year It also represents 169 of the total Educational and General income received as compared with 372 of the total in 195051
Expenditures for Educational and General purposes amounted to 17527380
The expenditures for 195152 were 111 in excess of the amount expended during the previous year These expenditures are compared by function in the following table with the expenditures for 195051
