Stephens County Soil and Water Conservation District
Annual Report FY 2013
The supervisors of the Stephens County Soil and Water Conservation District met a total of 11 times in regular session during the fiscal year. Sheppard served as Chairman, Hellenga served as Vice-Chairman, and Kimsey served as Chaplin. The District held their Annual Christmas Meeting on December 16, 2013 at the Dillard House Restaurant in Dillard, Georgia. Approximately 22 people were in attendance. The District rented office space in the Kimsey Center to the NRCS. The District sponsored students at the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop in Tifton, Georgia. The District supported the Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D projects throughout the year. The District supported the Envirothon Team by allowing them to practice at the Kimsey Center. The District supported the Mudd Creek 319 Project. The District supported the Coldwater Creek 319 project. The District supported the Cattlemen's Association by allowing them to hold meetings at the Kimsey Center. Roger Sheppard received his 20 year service pin. The District purchased new equipment for the meeting room of the Kimsey Center. The District was awarded an outreach grant from GACDS to promote conservation program outreach. The District welcomed new supervisor Lakie Meeks. The District explored the possibility of receiving funding from GSWCC to perform maintenance on the watershed dams in Stephens County.
The District rented the Kimsey Center to many groups for meetings and events.
