CLAYTON COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT
FY 2014 ANNUAL WORK PLANS
OBJECTIVE 1 Work closely with local issuing authorities of land disturbance permits in Clayton County which include the Cities of Morrow, Jonesboro, Forest Park, Lovejoy and Clayton County to assist in the full implementation of their Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance and to monitor enforcement actions.
Action
1. Conduct Overviews of local issuing authorities' erosion and sediment control program.
2. Have local governments that issue land-disturbance permits attend monthly District meetings.
OBJECTIVE 2 Continue a strong support for environmental and natural resources conservation education. Work to support and include other County groups with an interest in natural resources.
Action
1. Sponsor five students to attend the Natural Resource Conservation Workshop.
2. Support and promote the Envirothon that is held annually at the Newman Wetlands Center in Clayton County.
3. Sponsor three teams to compete in the Envirothon.
4. Assist Reynolds Nature Preserve, the Clayton County Cooperative Extension Service, the International Park, the County Water Authority, and the Newman Wetlands Center with soil and water conservation projects.
5. Maintain membership in the Georgia Association of Conservation District Supervisors and the National Association of Conservation Districts.
6. Seek outside sources of income to strengthen and support District activities and programs.

7. Conduct a Tree-Give-Away with the Master's Gardeners by providing free trees to the citizens of Clayton County.
8. Purchase soil stewardship material.
9. Purchase 50 District pocket calendars.
10. Sponsor a conservation/education farm field with NRCS and the Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission.
OBJECTIVE 3 Manage District financial and material resources to meet District goals in an efficient and productive manner and as prescribed by state guidelines.
Action
1. The Clayton County Soil and Water Conservation District will expend their funds in compliance with state law, and, the District will conduct an annual audit.
