The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) creates a safer Georgia by operating safe and secure facilities through the development of professional staff and effective offender management. GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners within 34
state prisons, 21 county prisons, and four private prisons.

BURRUSS CORRECTIONAL TRAINING CENTER (CTC)
Located in Forsyth, Georgia, Burruss CTC opened in 1986 with 300 adult male offenders. Now, Burruss has a physical capacity to house a total of 808 offenders. Capacity includes housing for 98 juveniles sentenced as adults between 14 and 16 years of age, as well as At-Risk Youth offenders between 17 and 21 years of age.

OFFENDER POPULATION & PROGRAMMING
SENATE BILL (SB) 440 & AT-RISK YOUTH
JUVENILES Offenders (age 14-16) sentenced as adults
under Senate Bill 440 due to nature of crimes committed Once offender reaches the age of 17, he will be housed in a separate unit until he reaches the age of 18

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
Business Office has the responsibility of administering the budget for the facility
Facility provides laundry services to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC)
Facility offers maintenance support to the Care & Custody warehouse

CHARTER SCHOOLS Burruss Foothills Charter High School is the second charter school to open; opening in August of 2015, through this program, offenders under 21 now have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma.
