Various kinds of camping are provided on state parks ranging from the tent camper, " Squirrel ' s Nest" camping (Unicoi) , trailer, pioneer or group

SWIMMING
The park system offers both swimm ing pools and beaches with qualified lifeguards on duty .
FishiNG
No fees are charged for fishing in park lakes, rivers , and streams, but a va lid Georgia fishing license is required of all residents age 16 or older. Non-residents age 16 or older must have a va lid Non-resident lice nse .
Neither reside nt or non-resident trout fishermen need a trout stamp if they fish only in IMPOU ND ED waters on state park property. This exemption does NOT apply to fishermen wo rking streams that flow through park lands .
Fishing boats and boats with motors are available for rent at many parks . Canoes and pedal boats are also ava ilab le at selected sites .

Three reg ulation golf courses are provided within the system - Hard Labor Creek and Little Ocmulgee ( 1 8 holes) and Vi cto ria Bryant (9 holes).
The Parks and Historic Sites Division provides horseback riding facilities at Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hard Labor Creek, Georgia Veterans, and Red Top Mountain. On ly Red Top Mountain provides rental horses . The other parks DO NOT provide rental horses.

At other parks providing horseback riding faci lities, a nominal fee wi ll be charged for day-use of horse trai ls and exercise rings ; this fee covers the period from 7 :00 a.m. until sundown. Stable fees (which will include the use of trail , stall, bedd i ng, water and facility maintenance) will be additional. A ll stable fees are charged on a daily basis . No fee is charged for use of regular picnic shel -
ters, tables and benches which are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis .
A special group shelter, for which a reservation fee is charged, is located at many of the larger parks . They are general ly screen-enclosed . Extra
fac ilities include folding steel tables and cha irs , pri vate or nearby sanitary facility and cooking grill .

The parks and historic sites in Georgia's system encompass over 40 ,00 0 acres of great scenic variety and cover many aspects of th e State's history. They are well distributed throughout th e State - from the mountains to the sea - and co nv eniently loca ted near principal highways.
Parks and historic sites are open on a year-round basis. Most fa ci lities are ava ilabl e during winter months except in freezing weather when water systems must be protected.
A full -time superintendent resides in almost every park.
Park Hours : Open 7 a.m. - Close 10 p.m . Historic Sites: Op en 9 a.m. - Close 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday. Sunday open 2 p .m.- close 5:30 p.m. Closed M ondays, Christmas & Thanksgiving . Pets : Dogs are the only pets al lowed in any Georgia State Park , and they must be kept on a leash at all times. Swi mming areas, cottages and all other park buildings are closed to th em. ROADSIDE PARKS
Roadside Parks or Rest Areas are administered and maintained by the Department of Transportation . Approximately 2 7 5 roadside parks are conveniently located along Georgia's principal highways. Travel ers are invited to use the facilities for a picnic lunch or just as a place to exercise and stretch away the weariness.
Camping is not allowed.
ALL ABOU T COTTAGES
All cottages and mobile homes are fully equipped for housekeeping with electric stove and refrigerator and with all necessary cooking and serving facilities , equipment, line ns and blankets .
Automatic ce ntral heat is found in all cottages, and air conditioning in all facilities except mountain park cottages .
OCCUPANCY LIMITATION - No cottage or mobile home may be used to accommodate more than its stated capaci ty . Occupancy of a facility at any one park is limited to 14 days.
RESERVATIONS- All reservations must be made through the individual park office.
Res ervations for all cottages and mobile homes can be accepted on a 11 -month maximum advance notice . For example on July 1, 197 7 a person can make a reservation for a cottage to begin anytime within the next 11 months, or, up to and including June 1, 1978 - 11 months from the date the reservation was made.
DEPOSIT- No reservati on can be considered firm until a deposit has been received and accepted by park office.
Minimum 48-hour cancellation notice required for refund . Deposit receipt must be returned for refund (Unicoi Lodge- 7 days).
TIME HELD- No reservat ion will be held after 12 noon of the se cond day, and both reservation and deposit are then forfeited unless park office has been notified of pending late arrival.
CHECK -OUT TIME - 12 NOON . Additional 1- day rental fee charged after 12 NOON unless overtime has been permitted by park office. Overtime ca n be granted only vyhen others are not waiting for cottag e.
CHECK -INTIME - 4 p.m .- 10 p.m.
Pets - No pets are allowed in cottages or mobile homes. No kennels are ava ilable at parks .
ELIGIBILITY - Cottages and mobile homes are not available to organized groups. Group cam ps and pioneer camping areas are ava ilable to such youth groups in other areas of the Parks sys tem.

OVERNIGHT ABSENCE - Any tent, trailer or other personal prop erty left on a campsi te unoccupied or
unattended overnight shall be subject to removal, and paid fees shall be forfeited.
FACILITIES- At least one comfort station is located in each developed camping area . Conve niences include flush toilets, hot sh owers, wash basin, mirror and electric outlets for shavers. In most parks , an automatic laundry also is available at this site .
Near each camp is a water faucet , grill, table and benches . In most parks , electricity also is provided but not always at each site . Where necessary , a raised tent pad has been constructed .
A dump station is available at many parks . Check with the park office for its location .
SPECIAL NOTE- The Health Department has advised that campers can no longer be allowed to discharge waste water from sinks directly onto campsites. Until a satisfactory permanent system can be designed and installed, all campers w ill be required to collect waste water in a container, and
when full , empty at a spot designated by the Park Staff.
