Located off l-75 in middle Georgia, Indian Springs is thought to be the oldest state park in the United States. The Creek Indians used the springs for centu ri es to heal the sick and impart extra vigor to the we ll. During the 1800s. the area was a bustling resort town. Today, visitors ca n still sa mple the spring water while enjoying the par k's cottages, ca mping, swimming, fi shing and boating. Many structures within the park. such as the spri ng house, were bu ilt duri ng the Great Depression by members of FDR's Ci vilian Conservation Corps (CCC). A museum highlights Creek Indians. the resort era and CCC history.
