l l ocated off l-7:; in midd le Georgia, Ind ia n Springs is thought to be the o ldest sta te pa rk in the United Sta tes. The Cree k Indians used the springs for ce nturies to heal the sick and impart extra vigor to the well. During the 1800s. the area was a bustling resort town. Today, visitors can still sample t he spring water while enjoying the park's cottages, camping, swimming, fishing and boating. Many structures within the park were built during the Depression by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). A museum (ope n seasonally) highlights Creek Indians, t he r esort e ra and CCC history.
