The Creek
AT HARD LABOR Barely an hour east of Atlanta, this gem is worlds away from the normal city - golf experience. The course is surrounded by acres of woodlands, with the meandering Hard Labor Creek challenging you on five of the holes. This same creek creates the gorgeous waterfall on the course's signature hole, the par 3 number 5 The Creek at Hard Labor is definitely a "gem worth finding." Full-service Pro Shop carries golf accessories, snack bar and group/individual lessons (with advance appointment). Overnight accommodations: 20 rental cottages and 51 campsites.

The Lakes

The Lakes features a natural beauty rare in golf courses today. Steve Burns' golf design was able to preserve much of that beauty by using native sand for the many traps and waste areas. He also defined each fairway and landing area with gentle, links-style mounds that accent the course's three large lakes. So natural is the course - and so close to the Okefenokee Swamp - that it's not uncommon to see an alligator roaming the waterways. What better incentive to keep the ball in the fairway?
