SUMMARY OF LAUS METHODOLOGY
1967-1972 Employment data by place of work, not place of residence. Employment and unemployment data are not adjusted to the Current Population Survey. In SMSA's, estimates are made for the total SMSA and not disaggregated to the county level.
1973-1974 Employment by place of residence using 1970 place of residence ratios. Employment and unemployment are adjusted to the current Population Survey. In SMSA's, estimates are disaggregated to the county level based on census share ratios.
1975-1977 . Employment by place of residence using 1970 place of residence ratios. Employment and unemployment are adjusted to the Current Population Survey. In SMSA's and LMA's, estimates are disaggregated to the county level based on census share ratios.
1978-1979 Employment by place of residence using 1970 place of residence ratios. Monthly state estimates are developed using an econometric model. Employment and unemployment are adjusted to the current Population Survey. In MSA's, employment estimates are disaggregated to the county level based on current population. Unemployment estimates are disaggregated based on unemployment claims data and census data.
