. 1. Data Warehouse Data Collection

..-.:. .

ARS, subcontractor; recently received the compt.iteriied criminal history (CCH) files' . ., , from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) for all persons arrested from 1990 to 2002. SQL Server programs have been written and used to read the raw CCH data . . files into file components compatible with the data warehouse software platform. ARS is currently waiting to receive UCR data from GCIC, which is the last data component needed for the crime mapping portion of the project. As soon as the needed raw data is received, it will be read into the mapping software via SQL server programs.

Mapping data ha's been collected and entered in the following areas: prisons, jails,' boot .

camps, detention center, diversion centers, revocation centers, transitional centers,

drug courts, GBI offices, RSAT's, RYDC facilities, YDC facilities, State Patrol offices,

law enforcement training centers, parole offices; police departments, and CJCC grant

funding recipients for the past five years.

. Data t~ be stored in the data warehouse has also been collected and reformatted, including: Department of Corrections Inmate Research File (1990-2002), Department of Corrections Probation Research File (1990-2002), Department of Community Affairs Monthly Jail Reports (1990-2002), U.S. Census Data, 2000, Law Enforcement Offices and Posts, Correctional _Facilities and County Jails, andSex Offender Registry.

2. Warehouse Design and Architecture

In February, ARS completed a comprehensive diagram and data base map (blueprint) : describing how the various databases are linked together and outlining the various data mining and mapping possibilities. ARS also completed building a series of data look-up , tables containing geographical codes (county, zip codes, circuits, etc.) needed to link.. the various databases.

3. Recidivism Analysis

.

.

.

. .

.

ARS finished building SPSS programming code that allowed the OTIS Inmate and

Probation Research file to be merged by the indexing of an offender's name, DOB, ,
SSN and demographics. The CCH file was recently received by ARS and was o

successfully merged to the database containing the inmate and probationer data.. : ..

Analysis of this complete data set .has just begun and is expected to be complete<:J by

November 1, 2002.
