The people of the State of Georgia should dedicate themselves, through vigilance and resistance, to preventing prejudice and inhumanity; and
Each year since 1981, a state memorial service for victims of the Holocaust has been held in Atlanta at the State Capitol Rotunda; and
The Holocaust stands as a grim reminder to all generations never to allow the perpetration of genocidal crimes and atrocities to reappear as a blot on the history of mankind; and
The lessons of .the Holocaust must be taught to future generations to create an awareness of the enormity of these crimes and a vigilance to prevent their recurrence; and
The citizens of the State of Georgia cherish freedom and the dignity of man and stand opposed to tyranny and injustice; and
The purpose of the Geq_rgia Commission on the Holocaust is to hold a suitable memorial and remembrance service each year which would encourage communities throughout the State to hold such remembrance services; and
