The vi it to the abov in titution wa mad by the Board on June 7th, 1911. Th building and premi e were clo ely in pect d, and report from the Principal '\ . O. Connor the Executiv committee of th Board of ru tee and the Phyician in charg Dr. W. T. McKinne weI' hard.
The building were found to be in o'ood I' pair' he floor and apparatu were found to be. neat and cl an; ord dine and y tern weI' tamped upon the appointment and keeping of the variou hall and d partment .
The literary chool building howed by it condition that the t acher had taken th proper ar of the prop rty, and from pecimen of the. work ubmitted by Mi s McDaniel the A i tant Principal who ha charge of thi work, he Board judged the work to have been enthu ia ti ally and thorough! done.
The boy' dormitory with it leeping apartment ,bath clo et infirmary tc. wa found

in perf ct condition. The ame wa true of thc

girl' dormitory.

The indu trial building wa found to be in lI'ood order. The pecimen of manual trainino' work, sewing and cookino' w re excellent, and

portrayed OTeat care on th part of all concerned.

The power house lot animal garden wood-

work, leather, hop work and printing depart-

ment weI' found in good condition with one

xc ption, the boiler which produce the team for heating the variou building and propellino'

the water are barely ad quat for the work to

be done.

We wi h to commend highly the Principal and the entir faculty for their earne t and patient work with the e defec ive children who are the

ward of the tate of Georo-ia; who houlp. hare

the people of the ta e.

We wi h further to commend the noble effort

of the Board of Tru tee and e pecially it Exec-

utive ommittee in their pecial effort to give

a clear and eff ctive admini tra ion of the in-

titution under th ir charge.

The cope of it influence ha been enlarged

from year to year until today Th Georgia chool

for the Deaf occupie a large place in the edu-

cational intere t of the tate and i doing a

work that entitle her to mol' recognition and

upport at the hand of the Legi lature than ha

heretofore been extended.

The hal' er for the chool for the Deaf and

the chool for the Blind are link d together in

the code makino' all the charter for on institu_

tion apply to the 0 her.

Your committe ar of the opinion hat the

time ha come when a eparate, di tinct and in-

dependent harter hould be oTanted for the

Georgia chool for the Deaf, embodyino' uch

feature of th pI' ent harter a are be t to

retain, and adding uch other power and re-

triction a will adapt i to the chang d condi-

tion brought about by the growth and develop-

ment of he in titution.

It i further recommended that the office of

Principal be made to apply to th A i tant Prin-

cipal' office, and that the Principal a it now i named, be called uperintendent; so that the chief officer in authority at th chool hall be called uperintendent and th econd in command be called Principal.
We recommend that the board of tru t e for thi institution be granted the privilege of retiring, at their di cretion upon half pay, any p ron who ha served thc chool in an capacity for thirty year .
We further recommcnd that a law be pa cd compelling the attendance of all d af children in Georgia at the Georgia chool for the Deaf or om other in titution of imilar character for eight year between he age of and including the year nin to sixteen. We believe thi to b of pecial importance for rea on which are evident to every thinking man. Thi cla of p oplc are very much imposed upon, and often is it the ca e that unthinking parent withdraw th ir childr n for no other rea on than that the may profit by their labor. Thi cIa of citizen-to-be need a moral trengthening which can com only by the building and a oning of character, which i the chief aim of all chool training.
It i recommended that a mall fund be provided for the proper quipping of a gymna 'um for the boy , room for which may b found in th n w boy , dormitor . al 0 that an additional 100-hor e power boil I' be provided for the u e of the chool for rea on which ar - vident and that a large moke tack b erected with the nlarged power plant.
We also feel it to be but ju t to he intcrc.t

We further recommend that 0 much of any

urplu from the general appropriation as may

be nece ary, be u ed in providing infirmary

facilitie for the negro choo!. It would be a

fearful condition if contagiou di ea e hould

break out in thi chool at any time ince there

i no mean of i olation.

It i of prime importanc that th standpipe

capacity be enlarg d from 20,000 gallon to 50,000

Q'allon. hould fire break out in the building ,

which are built clo e together, th re would be

f arful ri k of life and propert} .

There i n ed of an appropria ion for the ex-

ten ion of the girl' dormitory.
