The Georgia Teacher Center
The Georgia Teacher Center is a new resource for teachers to assist them in reaching their fullest potential as professional educators. The center seeks to develop and provide opportunities that support and equip teachers to sustain improvements in student achievement. This center is founded upon the belief that Georgia teachers can and should lead teachers. All educators are encouraged to attend this meeting to help the Georgia Teacher Center focus upon the resources that will meet the needs of teachers in our state.
Milken Family Foundation
National Educator Awards
The Milken Family Foundation National Educator Awards program provides public recognition and financial rewards to elementary and secondary school teachers, principals, and other education professionals who are furthering excellence in education. By honoring outstanding educators, the program strives to attract, retain, and motivate talented people for the challenge and adventure of teaching.
Including recipients announced in the fall of 2001, the program has recognized more than 1,650 outstanding kindergarten through twelfth-grade teachers, counselors, librarians, principals, and other administrators with unrestricted individual Milken Educator Awards of $25,000.

Georgia 4-H Performing Arts Group
"Starstruck"
Clovers & Company was founded in 1981 to provide an opportunity for youth to share with others, the life and vitality evident in 4-H. Interested 4-H'ers from throughout the state audition yearly for the limited number of spots in the show. Only the most talented and outstanding are selected. The group is composed of talented singers, dancers, musicians, and stagehands. The 2001-2002 cast has members ranging in age from 12 to 18. Several graduates have gone on to careers in the music and entertainment field on the national level. The show is primarily directed by volunteers who give many hours to assure that all can be proud of the production.

Biographical Information
Crisp County High School Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps
Crisp County School System
The cadets presenting our Nation's Colors and performing today are from Crisp County High School Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (AJROTC). The AJROTC program provides for cadets instructional and rewarding opportunities that promote graduation from high school, success after high school, and accomplishment of its mission: "TO MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE BETTER CITIZENS." In pursuing this mission, the AJROTC program has become one of the nation's premiere contributors for assisting America's youth.
In addition to the academic and vocational needs of the cadets, we offer several extracurricular activities (Riflery, Drill, Color Guard, and Raider). Our Drill and Color Guard teams have won the Regional Drill and Color Guard championships for the past eight (8) consecutive years. The Drill team won Georgia State Championships in Drill in 1999 and 2001. Our Rifle team won the Regional Championship for the past two (2) consecutive years and went on to the state rifle competition.
Directors of the program are Lieutenant Colonel Dennis D. Harrison, USA (Ret.); Sergeant First Class Royzell Cooper, USA (Ret.); and Sergeant First Class Terrence Culler, USA (Ret.)
Avondale Elementary School's Performing Arts Magnet Program

Shows to Go 2002 "Georgia On My Mind"
Avondale Elementary Performing Arts Department proudly presents the 2002 touring production of "Georgia On My Mind." This show highlights many songs pertaining to Georgia. Shows to Go is comprised of an auditioned cast of students. The troupe performs under the direction of Carl Christian, Avondale Elementary Performing Arts Magnet music teacher; and Marialice Carter, the school's magnet dance teacher. Backstage supervision and sets are provided by Shenise Spann, the school's magnet drama teacher; and by Beth Coates, the school's magnet art teacher. Lynn Owings is the principal.
