Donna Lowry
WXIA-TV 11Alive News
Donna joined WXIA-TV 11Alive News in Atlanta in 1986. In the past six years she has won praise and awards, including two Emmys, for her coverage of everything from child abuse and domestic violence to daycare and educational issues. Donna Lowry's commitment to children is evident because of her personal conviction that each child has a voice that's so rarely heard. She has been the Education Reporter for the past several years at WXIA-TV.
Donna's career in broadcast journalism began while attending Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she received a B.A. degree in Communications/Administration and Management. She went on to obtain a Masters Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University near Chicago. In addition to her job responsibilities, she currently serves on the boards of several organizations.
James Salzer
Atlanta Journal Constitution
James Salzer joined the Atlanta Journal Constitution in 1999 to cover school reform and higher education. James is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. During his career he has covered government and politics in Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. He has spent the past ten years covering state government, politics and education policy. He has also served as bureau chief for Morris News Service, the Atlanta bureau for newspapers in Jacksonville, Florida.
He has been a resident of Gwinnett County, Georgia, for 11 years. He has two siblings who are teachers and another who is a university professor.
Burke Brennan WGST-Radio
Burke Brennan, an award-winning radio news journalist, has been employed by News Radio 640 WGST, a 24-hour , seven-day-a-week, news radio station based in Atlanta, since 1996. He has worked for various radio stations across the state of Georgia including WPLO in Lawrenceville and WDUN in Gainesville. He lives in Dacula, Georgia, with his wife Lynn and his three stepchildren.

National Educator Awards
The Milken Family Foundation National Educator Awards program provides public recognition and financial rewards to elementary and secondary school teachers, principals, and other education professionals who are furthering excellence in education. By honoring outstanding educators, the program strives to attract, retain, and motivate talented people to the challenge and adventure of teaching. Including recipients announced in the fall of 2000, the program has recognized more than 1,650 outstanding kindergarten through twelfth-grade teachers, counselors, librarians, principals, and other administrators with unrestricted individual Milken Educator Awards of $25,000.

Shows to Go 2001 "Rock Around the Clock"
Avondale Elementary Performing Arts Department proudly presents the 2001 touring production of "Rock Around the Clock." This show highlights many songs that topped the charts in the 1950s and 1960s. Shows to Go is comprised of an auditioned cast of students. The troupe performs under the direction of Carl Christian, Avondale Elementary Performing Arts Magnet music teacher; and Marialice Carter, dance teacher. Backstage supervision and sets are provided by Shenise Spann, drama teacher; and by Kristin Smith, art teacher. Barbara Lackey is the principal.

The cadets presenting our Nation's Colors are from the North Forsyth High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC). Students from all high schools in Forsyth County are allowed to enroll in this program. Since its inception five years ago, over 1052 students have participated. The program's objectives are to develop informed and responsible students, to develop leadership and management skills, to promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security, to strengthen character, and to help form habits of self-discipline.
In addition to attending MCJROTC classes, many cadets are involved in extracurricular activities. In 1999, the Drill Team finished 14th in national level competition. In 2000, the female drill team was ranked first in the Southeast at the Marine Corps Drill Meet and the marksmanship team went to the state marksmanship competition.
Directors of the program are Major C. E. M. Kelly, Jr., USMC Ret. and Gunnery Sergeant Jack Snook, USMC, Ret.
Donna Donnelly
"Unwind Before You Unravel"
Donna Donnelly is the author of Take This Stress and Love It! and creator of "Unwind Before You Unravel--Stress Reduction Using Laughter." Donna has taught at all levels within the public educational system--from elementary through university level. In 1994, she cofounded Life Guides, Inc., which specializes in "Light-Hearted Presentations for Serious Results." Donna consults with trainers and meeting planners on how to 'lighten-up' conferences, seminars, and retreats for more effective participation and retention. She also works directly with client groups through conference break-outs ("Brain Breaks"), seminars, trainings, and personal clarity coaching. Presentation topics include stress control, celebrating change, communications, creating influential relationships, control and choice, and a series of workshops for building facilitation skills. Donna's novel approach ensures a fun-filled presentation that receives rave reviews for both content and presentation style.
