As required by law (Georgia Laws, 1971, pp. 105, 106), the State Commission on Compensation does herewith file its annual report.
During the year, we lost the services of Dr. Willys R. Knight, Research Consultant, so our report will not contain the voluminous statistics contained in past reports. However, if there are any you require, we will be glad to furnish them.
Our comparison of salaries under our purview with those in industry, commerce, the private professions, Federal government, other states, local government and in other branches of Georgia state government indicates a need for a general increase. The specifics of these increases are as follows:

(1) Governor - An allowance in an amount specified in the Appropriations Act shall also be provided for the operation of the Governor's Mansion .
(2) As provided by law; salary is tied to U.S. Armed Forces scale. (3) Plus 8% factor in lieu of pension pick up as a result of the
incumbent having 34 years of credible service. (4) By law he is to get the same aggregate compensation as the Lt.
Governor but with a time lag. Opening each new biennial session his compensation is equalized with the amount the Lt. Governor receives. (5) Plus $13,400 as a legislator. (6) Plus $13,400 as a legislator.
