HOPE Can Help You Get the Education You Want.
HOPE - Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally is Georgia's unique scholarship program that rewards students' hard work with financial assistance in degree, diploma, and certificate programs at any eligible Georgia public or private college, university, or public technical college. Since the program began in 1993, more than 685,000 Georgians have received $1.89 billion through the HOPE Scholarship Program, which is funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education.
You can benefit from HOPE in several ways. If you wish to enroll in a degree program at a Georgia public college, university, or technical college, you may be eligible for financial assistance covering tuition, HOPE-approved mandatory fees, and a book allowance.
If you wish to enroll in a Georgia private college, you may be eligible for a $3,000 annual scholarship for tuition and mandatory fees. You also may receive fmancial assistance for non-degree programs at any Georgia public technical college. Other HOPE assistance is available for GED recipients.
This brochure will provide more details about the HOPE program to help you get started.
Here's How HOPE Can Help You.

You may receive first-year HOPE assistance for the first 30 semester or 45 quarter hours attempted at any Georgia public college or university. This includes tuition, HOPE-approved mandatory fees, and a book allowance up to $300 per academic year. Full-time enrollment is not required.
You may renew the scholarship for your sophomore, junior, and senior years. To do so, you must:
Maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for all coursework attempted (not just course work completed).
Reapply for the scholarship by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) , or the HOPE Application.
Be making satisfactory academic progress.
College hours and grades attempted prior to high school graduation are not used in calculating your total attempted hours and cumulative grade point average to renew HOPE .

Two Opportunities for Students to Regain HOPE:

If, after attempting 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, you fall below a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, you may continue your college studies at your own expense. If you then earn a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at the completion of your sophomore year (60 semester or 90 quarter hours attempted) or your junior year (90 semester or 135 quarter hours attempted), you may re-enter the HOPE Scholarship Program.
HOPE for Public College Students Who Were Ineligible as Entering Freshmen:
If you graduated from high school before the HOPE program began in 1993, or if you were not academically eligible immediately after high school graduation, you may be eligible for a HOPE Scholarship after attempting 30, 60, or 90 semester hours or 45, 90, or 135 quarter hours of study if you have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
