Just one and a fourth mile from The Little White House are the newly restored pools and springs where
FDR's early hydrotherapy was conducted. Visitors can tour these facilities and learn more of
the FDR-Warm Springs relationship.
The Roosevelt Warm Spring, Institute for Rehabilitation
provides medical and vocational rehabilitation with independent living services to over 3,000
people each year.
On nearby Pine Mountain, the 10,000 acre Franklin D. Roosevelt
State Park is an outstanding recreational area with cabins, a mountain stone swinuning poo~ picturesque lakes, and beautiful woodlands. Nearby, above King's Gap, is Dowdell's Knob. This was Roosevelt's favorite picnic spot, overlooking the magnificent valley
below.
