MASTERPIECE
WALLANDER

PBS 's American Experience presents The Kennedys, an American story unlike any other: a saga of ambition , wealth , family loyalty and personal tragedy. Edited down to three hours from its original four, The Kennedys draws on a wealth of still photographs, archival footage , and home movies , and features extensive interviews with family members, friends, and first-hand witnesses to the many chapters of the Kennedy story. The Kennedys first premiered in 1992 to vast critical acclaim. Nearly two decades later, the Kennedy story continues to capture the imagination of Americans of all ages.
Monday, May 18, 9 PM

Kenneth Branagh stars as "the Norse Morse, " Inspector Kurt Wallander, the scruffy Swedish sleuth created by best-selling author Henning Mankell. In three whodunits, Mankell pits his hero against the creeping malaise affecting contemporary Sweden , where permissiveness and the collapse of the welfare state are slowly undermining the spirit of law and order. A maelstrom of bizarre crimes, involving axe murders, scalpings, random assassinations and cyber-terrorism, taxes Wa llander's wits.

HELP GEORGIANS SEEKING J 0 8 s

Georgia Public Broadcasting is responding to the current economic crisis that is affecting every aspect of Georgia's economy, especially employment, with the television broadcast of Job Fair '09 on Sunday, May 17 at 2 PM. This marks the 15th year that GPB has partnered with the Georgia Department of Labor to present this relevant and beneficial Job Fair program. This year, Job Fair '09 plans to go deeper in to the issue of Georgia's labor challenges by broadcasting a live, two-hour presentation for job seekers, employers and workforce development professionals. The program will feature live job listings, interviews with experts and the opportunity to call in and speak with career experts. This multi-city broadcast will originate from Atlanta, Macon and Albany.
"Every corner of Georgia has been affected by the employment challenges this year, so we are proud to once again partner with the Department of Labor for our television, radio and web communities," said Teya Ryan, President and Executive Director for GPB. "Our mission is to produce programs that educate and inform and we're confident that Job Fair '09 will provide Georgians with valuable tools to succeed in this challenging economic climate."
GPB will use radio, television and interactive live chats on our web site to reach Georgians seeking jobs, employees or career advancement.
GPB covers the state for Job Fair '09, broadcasting live from WALB in Albany, WMAZ in Macon, and from the Career Expo and Job Fair at the Macon Centreplex. GPB and the Department of Labor will also provide phone banks in Gwinnett County, Atlanta, Valdosta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah.

There are four key areas TOr
qFAIR'09
Career Development Services- Am I prepared for my next career? Training and Education -Is training or education needed to achieve my goal? Community Resources- How do I access local resources? Employers- Do I meet employers' expectations?
Job Fair '09 will also take a look at some success stories in the midst of all the bad job news: GPB will profile a HOPE grant recipient who completed his education and now works for Georgia Power. We'll also see how Georgians have benefited from Department of Labor programs such as Georgia Works.
Additionally, Department of Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond will be a guest on GPB radio's monthly Consumer Call In program on Friday, May 15, 3- 4 PM taking calls from across the state. An additional web chat with Department of Labor staffers will follow the radio broadcast online.
GPB Radio will also reach out to listeners on Friday May 8 during its regularly scheduled program, At Work. This special Job Fair edition will feature Department of Labor Commissioner, Michael Thurmond and will be hosted by Rickey Bevington, host of Georgia Gazette, GPB's nightly news and information program. Together they will open up the lines to Georgia callers to hear from job seekers, employers and workforce professionals. There will be additional online opportunity following At Work at www.gpb.org.
