GPB Announces A New Initiative For Our Members: Friends and Family Coupon Exchange

You are probably already aware that beginning on February 18,2009, GPB will broadcast ONLY in digital. We want to make sure you are DTV-ready so that you may continue to enjoy all of GPB's great programming. If you receive you r TV through an antenna or "rabbit ears;' and you don't currently subscribe to cable or satellite, then you'll need to purchase a Digital Converter Box. They are available at many electronic stores and are easy to install. To make things even easier, you are eligible for a government issued coupon for $40 off the purchase of your converter box. Every home is allowed to register for two coupons per household. So here's where you can help! If you do not need to have a converter box, why not apply for your coupons and offer them to someone who needs them? GPB is proud to announce the Friends and Family Coupon Exchange---we are working with community groups to make sure that all Georgians will be ready to go "digital" when the time comes. You may send your coupons to GPB and we'll make sure that someone who needs them will receive them. It's easy to apply! Just go to www.DTV.gov or call 1-888-3882009. Don't Have You" and the Dream love rs from Philadelphia present "When We Get Married;' a top-10 hit fro m 1961. GREAT PERFORMANCES Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story
Between 1959 and 1975, Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee, released international chart-topping hits such as "Soul Man," "Dock of the Bay,' 'Green Onions,' "Midnight Hour,' 'Respect Yourself" and the theme from "Shalt." The label's artists included Georgia's own Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Booker T. and the MGs, Wilson Pickett, Isaac Hayes -even Richard Pryor and Jesse Jackson. This is the story of how Stax became the pre-eminent soul music label in America and how it is entwined with he civil rights movement of the 1960s and the rise of black nationalism in the 1970s.
