Who Will Inherit Your Money? It May Not Be Who You Think.
Georgia law requires that the settlement of your account be made according to the beneficiary designation on file with TRS at the time of your death. This supersedes any other beneficiary designations you have in your will or on file with your employer. In other words, if you don't designate or update your beneficiaries in your TRS account, your loved ones cannot inherit your savings.
But don't let this news stress you out! You can quickly and easily update this information at any time with your online account. To register for an account, please visit www.TRSGA.com and click Account Login, choose Active Member and select Register for Account Access.
