House Committee to Hear Nursing Home Legislation

Atlanta Representative "Able" Mable Thomas (D-Atlanta)-- who chairs the Senior Citizens Council and Medicare Sub-Committee of the House Human Relations and Aging Committee-- has announced the third and final sub-committee hearing date in Atlanta for the purpose of discussing HB 357. The sub-committee will meet on Tuesday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m. in room 406 of Legislative Office Building at 18 Capitol Square, Atlanta.
HB 357 seeks to amend existing law dealing with notification requirements for suspicious, or unusual deaths. The measure would require all deaths which occur in a compensated care facility such as nursing homes, or deaths of persons who have recently left a nursing home, to be immediately reported to the coroner or county medical examiner.
Rep. Thomas, and Chairman Henry Howard (D-Augusta), the bill's author, encourage all interested parties to attend.
