January, thus continuing the upward trend for the fourth
month in a row. The Information sector has added 2,500
jobs over the month, and has expanded for four consecu-
tive months.
Manufacturing shed 800 jobs in January, ending a sevenmonth long growth streak which began in June 2021.

The contraction comes as manufacturing of Non-Durable
Goods increased by 400 but employment in the manu-
facturing of Durable Goods fell by 1,200 jobs over the
month.

Over the year, employment in Georgia is up 216,000, or
4.8 percent. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+47,700
jobs), Professional and Business Services (+42,700
jobs), leisure and hospitality (+38,200 jobs), education
and health services (+30,500 jobs) and manufacturing
(+17,000 jobs) added the most jobs from January 2021 to
January 2022.
Workforce Statistics & Economic Research
In January 2022, Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 3.2 percent over the month from 3.3 percent in December 2021. Georgia's current rate remains well below the 4.0 percent national average. Over the year, the unemployment rate in the state is down from 4.8 percent in January 2021.
