Manufacturing employment declined by 1,200 this month after being up 1,900 in December. In January, Durable Goods employment was down 1,300 and Non-durable Goods was up by 100.

Over the year, employment in Georgia increased by 93,900, or 2.1 percent. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+23,400 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+19,600 jobs); Education and Health Services (+17,800 jobs); and Leisure and Hospitality (+15,600 jobs) added the most jobs over the year.
Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) ticked up to 3.8 percent in January 2019 from 3.7 percent in December. Over the year, the unemployment rate is down from 4.3 percent in January 2018.
