A PROCLAMATION HEART HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

The number one killer of American men and women, cardiovascular disease, is responsible for one out of every four deaths in the United States; and
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year; and
Heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to create opportunities for people to make healthier choices; and
The American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" movement advocates for more research and swifter action for women's heart health; and
Maintaining a strong heart is key to a long and healthy life. Our state is committed to improving the health of our citizens, offering assistance and opportunities to achieve a greater level of overall health; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim FEBRUARY 2016, as HEART HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 15th day of january in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
