A proclamation: Georgia Gives Day 2015, Aug. 25, 2015

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION

GEORGIA GIVES DAY 2015

WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:

Nonprofits play an important role in Georgia's economy, providing jobs to thousands of Georgians while delivering many important services to our state's citizens, such as education for our children, food for the hungry, and healthcare for our elderly to name just a few; and
Nonprofits, like other businesses and organizations, struggle at times to keep operations afloat through proper funding to meet the needs and demands of consumers. It is important to recognize the benefits these numerous entities, deemed as charitable organizations and tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, provide to Georgians daily; and
Funding these nonprofit entities, which strive to meet the ever growing needs and demands for their services and which search for additional financial support, is vital to keeping these engines in our communities viable and in assuring that essential services are provided to our citizens; and
This year, non profits from around Georgia have joined together to help make a greater impact by forming GeorgiaGives.org, now in its third year, an effort to broaden awareness of the wo rk and worth of Georgia nonprofits and to promote charitable giving and volunteerism; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim November 12, 201 5, as GEORGIA GIVES DAY in Georgia and encourage all citizens to support the various charitable causes participating in GeorgiaGives.org.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 25th day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen .
