By the Governor of the State of Georgia, a proclamation, 2014 May 7; By the Governor of the State of Georgia, a proclamation: Charter Public Schools Week

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

CHARTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

WHEREAS: WHEREAS:
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:

Charter schools promote competition, innovation, and creativity within our education system while providing parents with choices for their children's academic future. By empowering parents with public charter school options, Georgia can continue to improve its educational standing and provide our youngest citizens with the tools for success; and
Charter schools play an important role in the advancement of our state as they expand the horizons of students and give teachers and school leaders the flexibility they need to find more effective ways for preparing young people to succeed in postsecondary education and the 21st century marketplace. With increased flexibility in teaching methods comes greater accountability to ensure that our students are receiving a truly high-quality education; and
The economic and social well-being of our state depends on the ability of our schools and educators to impart knowledge effectively to their students. Charter schools throughout Georgia serve as laboratories of innovation and provide valued service and choices to their respective communities so that students can have a greater learning experience; and
It is imperative that we bestow upon our children the brightest possible future, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today's fast-paced world; and
Charter schools are vehicles to a strengthened and more prosperous Georgia. By supporting their creation and growth, we can continue to make Georgia an even greater place to learn and to call home; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 4-10, 2014, as CHARTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 7th day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
