CERTIFIED GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL MANAGERS MONTH

Certified Government Financial Managers (CGFMs) promote quality and ethics in financial management throughout government; and
CGFM certification requires a sound education background, several years of experience, and a solid sense of ethics. Georgia' s State Auditor and the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts recognize the CGFM certification; and
These financial managers serve the public interest in accordance with the highest ethical principles; and
The Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants is a professional organization, part of the Association of Government Accountants, with approximately 260 active members representing state, federal, municipal, and private sector accountants, audits, and financial managers in Georgia; and
Georgians are fortunate to have government employees who excel in the workplace. These hardworking men and women demonstrate dependability, initiative, and practical stewardship of state resources. CGFMs play an important role among these outstanding professionals; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2014 as CERTIFIED GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL MANAGERS MONTH in Georgia and encourage all Georgians to recognize the importance of CGFMs to efficiency and effectiveness in government financial management.
