BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION WORLD MARRIAGE DAY
WHEREAS:
God ordained the sanctity of marriage as a holy and sacred uni on between two people who promise to love, honor and respect each other and to give themse lves faithfully to each other for as long as they both shall live; and
WHEREAS :
Marriage is one of the most vital institutions in our society and can be the bedrock for stable and loving fam ilies, so essential to American life. Based on mutual comm itment, marriage partners strive daily to strengthen and maintain their unity; and
WHEREAS:
Marriage creates a united entity out of what was once two separate lives, with dedication to each other fostering a bond strong enough to survive life's crit ical moments; and
WHEREAS:
Many Georg ia citizens have benefited from the ir associati on with World Marriage Day in Georgia and wi ll join coup les from other states in observing February 12, 2012 , as World Marriage Day; now
THEREFORE: I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the state of Georg ia, do hereby proclaim February 12, 2012, as WORLD MARRIAGE DAY in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed th is 19th day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand twe lve.
