SPOTLIGHT ON: GreenTech Manufacturing Governor Sonny Perdue recently announced that GreenTech Manufacturing plans to locate a new facility in Douglas. The company, which makes environmentally friendly construction products, will create 320 jobs and invest more than $20 million in a manufacturing and distribution facility. GreenTech is owned by a nonprofit trust whose mission is to foster sustainability and affordability solutions across the country and abroad.

Dublin pet food manufacturer Hi-Tek Rations has announced that it will expand its facilities, adding a new production line. The company will create 30 jobs and invest $1.5 million. Hi-Tek manufactures private label and branded pet food products including the Intimidator and Good Dog lines. Agricultural processing company AgStrong plans to open its first oilseed processing plant in Bowersville, the company recently announced. AgStrong will create 10 jobs and invest $5 million in the new plant, which will process canola and sunflower seeds from local farmers.
Local entrepreneur David McMullen was named Agency Marketer of the Year by the American Marketing Association. McMullen is a partner and strategic planner at creative agency redpepper, which has offices in Atlanta and Nashville. The company is a past client of GDEcD's Regional Small Business & Innovation team.

Medical billing company AvidaMed, which has a
location in Griffin, has added two positions and is
still growing. AvidaMed works with medical practices to handle their billing, cash flow management and regulatory issues. Changes in federal law have made AvidaMed's expertise even more valuable, company officials say. The company is a client of GDEcD regional project manager Twina Feliciano.

April 16 marks the arrival of the 2009 Georgia Logistics Summit in Atlanta. The summit is the state's first event focusing on the industry and includes the release of the groundbreaking "2009 Georgia Logistics Report: A Focus on Providers." Highlights include a special welcome by Governor Perdue and remarks by some of Georgia's top logistics authorities. The 2009 BIO International Convention is headed to Georgia in May. The world's largest biotechnology gathering, BIO is expected to draw up to 20,000 industry professionals to Atlanta May 18 21. GDEcD is a Double Helix sponsor of the convention and is working hard to share Georgia's bioscience strengths with the industry.
