SPOTLIGHT ON: YesVideo Governor Sonny Perdue recently announced that digital media company YesVideo plans to locate a new facility in Gwinnett County. The company, which transfers legacy media to new digital formats, plans to create 300 jobs and invest millions in their Norcross facility.
As part of an effort to encourage economic development in Georgia, Governor Perdue recently announced legislation that would retool the state's business incentives. The proposed changes include six components that would increase Georgia's competitiveness for economic development projects that have a high impact on the state through large job numbers and/or high salaries. Big Tex Trailer Company plans to locate a manufacturing & distribution facility in Cordele, Governor Perdue recently announced. The Texasbased trailer manufacturer will create 130 jobs and invest $7 million. The company purchased two buildings totaling 174,000 square feet on 55 acres of land in Crisp County.
Georgia was on the mind of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in February. Steve Hyln, creator of SmARTlens Corporation's Hyln System, accepted an Academy Award for Technical Achievement at the 81st annual Scientific and Technical Academy Awards dinner and show. SmARTlens is based in Athens and is a client of GDEcD regional project manager Ryan Thornton.

Transportation parts distributor Excess Incorporated recently announced it will open a new location in Macon. The company plans to create six jobs and invest $1.5 million in a warehousing, distribution and packaging operation. Excess Incorporated is a client of GDEcD regional project manager Candice Scott.
