SPOTLIGHT ON: BIOTECH LEGISLATION At the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's Eggs & Issues breakfast in January, Governor Sonny Perdue announced legislation that would protect Georgia biotech companies against liability claims. The proposed legislation is intended to encourage biotech companies to locate in the state as well as support existing Georgia companies.
MillerCoors recently announced an expansion of its Albany operations. The world-famous brewery is in the process of adding production capacity to brew Coors Light. The brewery also produces a number of Miller-brand beers including Miller High Life and Miller Light. MillerCoors will add 25 employees, who will be trained by Albany Technical College and QuickStart. Georgia company Custom Truck & Body Works announced that it plans to expand its Meriwether County facility. The company, which produces specialized vehicles for emergency medical, law enforcement, fire and rescue services, will create 15 jobs and invest $150,000 in its facility in Woodbury.

View All Nordson Corporation's Swainsboro facility was named one of Manufacturing Week's Best Plants in America. The company was noted for its lean manufacturing principles and a culture of continuous improvement that has led to new efficiencies and quality improvements. Nordson's Dawsonville facility was named a finalist as well.
