Enclosed is the County Jail Inmate Report for June 2009. This report reflects the inmate population on June 4, 2009. This month, all of the functional county jails provided inmate information. The data in this report represents 100 percent of the county jails reporting and 100 percent of the State's population. Please note this report is a collaborative effort of both state and local agencies/departments, and the publication date is dependent upon a number of variables that are not within the direct control of the Department of Community Affairs. However, we make every effort to release the report as early as possible.

In June 2009, the number of inmates held in county jails increased by 273 inmates to 40,354. The capacity increased by 234 to 43,449 as Gordon County moved into a new jail. Their new capacity is 376, it was 142. The number of inmates awaiting trial decreased by 845 inmates to 22,977, and the number of sentenced inmates awaiting transfer to State Institutions decreased by 295 inmates to 5,006.
