GEORGIA FEBRUARY EGG PRODUCTION UP 9 PERCENT
Georgia's laying flocks produced 361 million eggs during February 1996, up 9 percent from February
1995. Production consisted of 217 million table eg- g- s
and 144 million hatching eggs.
U.S. EGG PRODUCTION UP 5 PERCENT
Laying flocks in the U.S. prodsced 5.97 billion during February 1996, up 5 percent from the 5.71 billion produced February 1995. Production included 5.05 billion table eggs and 918 million hatching eggs.
30 STATES EGG PRODUCTION UP 5 PERCENT
Laying flocks in the 30 major egg production States produced 5.65 billion eggs during February, up 5 percent from February 1995. The average number ot layers during February, at 283 million, was up 1 percent from the year earlier.

GEORGIA FEBRUARY RED MEAT PRODUCTION DOWN
Commercial red meat production in Georgia totaled 34.5 million pounds during February 1996, down 2 percent from February 1995.
U.S. RED MEAT PRODUCTION UP
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 3.52 billion pounds during February. This production was 10 percent above the previous record high for February set in 1995.
Beef production totaled 2.05 billion pounds, up 3 percent from the previous record high set in February 1977. Head kill totaled 2.93 million, up 13 percent from a year earlier. The average live weight was down 7 pounds from last year at 1,177 pounds.
Pork production, at 1.42 billion pounds was up 5 percent from the previous record set in February 1995, Hog kill totaled 7.66 million head, 5 percent above a year earlier. The average live weight decreased pound to 254 pounds.

FEBRUARY MlLK PRODUCTION UP 3 PERCENT (22 STATES)
Milk production in the 22 major States during February totaled 10.8 billion pounds, 3 percent above production in these same States in February 1995. The increase is due to February 1996 having an extra day because it is leap year. On a daily basis, milk production declined during February 1996 versus a year earlier. January revised production, at 11.3 billion pounds was slightly less than January 1995.
Production per cow in the 22 major States averaged 1,343 pounds for February, 48 pounds above February 1995. On an average daily basis, production per cow for February was virtually unchanged from a year ago.
The number of cows on farms in the 22 major States was 8.01 million head, 38,000 head less than February Igg an5 d 141000 head less than January 1996.
During the October-December period, the 22 major States produced 32.7 billion pounds o f milk, 86.3 percent of the U.S. production. If the remaining 28
States not surveyed monthly followed the same pattern as the 22 States, the U.S. production would be 12.5 billion pounds for February 1996.

CATTLE ON FEED IN HISTORIC 7 MONTHLY STATES DOWN 1 PERCENT
Cattle on feed March 1, 1996, in the historic 7 monthly States for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 8.15 million, down 1 percent from the previous year but 2 percent above March 1, 1994.
Placements in feedlots during February totaled 1.44 million, 6 percent below 1995 but 15 percent above 1994.
Marketings during February totaled 1.54 million, up 12 percent from a year ago and 14 percent above 1994.
Other disappearance during February was 52,000 head, the same as last year but 9 percent below 1994.
