Chocolate Bar May Contain Unlisted Peanuts
ATLANTA Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin today warned those with an allergy to peanuts to avoid a brand of chocolate bar because it may contain peanuts not listed on the label.
Lake Champlain Chocolates of Burlington, Vermont, is voluntarily recalling its Five Star Fruit & Nut Bars, with a weight of two ounces and a lot number of 05056 printed on the side of the bar wrapper.
Individuals who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening illness if they consume these chocolate bars. The bars were distributed in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, and Wisconsin.
Georgia Department of Agriculture sanitarians will be checking stores and warehouses as part of their routine inspections to make sure these chocolate bars have been removed from sale. Anyone who has these bars and has allergy concerns may return them to the place of purchase.
