ATERMELONS
From the os, market. review of fruits and vegetables, Bureau of Agricultural Economics, Wash- a
os. D. C., a une 1, 1926, it i is observed that a considerable general increase in acreage of melons is as- ie
sured. Unfavorable weather i in some sections, among them Georgia, may also. in a measure, interfere
3 causing late marketing.
ix
In the light of the above informal n it seems s timely for us to again remind growers that Quality is
the key- note to the most successful marketing, and while time is yet opportune (though short), to urge
ve to make special efforts in 1 the way of erowine. and loading better melons. :
+
Every one knows that vines Sanaa give a run of small melons, ae it is these small melons. that
are always a drag on the market. Therefore, why not thin them out to two or three melons to the vine,
a and let all its substance go to them, ins stead of possibly twice the number which will not even in times of
scarcity het grower as much. This is a recognized good practice, and we hope that many more of our
growers will undertake it this season ee it seems there is more than usual need for it.
The eartier you ae this your atiention the greater will be your reward.
S addvast all mail to STATE BUREAU OF MARKETS, State Capitol, Atlanta, Georgia
Pass below are those which wholesalers were paying. F. O. B. these consuming. centers, the day this Bulletin
went to ae J ae S 1926. REMEMBER, THESE ARE NOT RETAIL PRICES.
