People who are buying and breed ing horses should ask to see the re gistration papers before leaving pre mises. The MARKET BULLETIN has received numerous complaints of people who buy a horse with the sell er promising to send papers later and the papers never appear. The MARKET BULLETIN has no jurisdic tion over such instances. A smart buyer and or person breeding a mare will ask to see the papers first.
In order to qualify to advertise horses, horse farmers should have had the livestock advertised in their possession 60 days or more before offering it for sale through this publi cation.

ORANGE MARMALADE (for use with Seville bitter or sour oranges)
Wash 12 sour oranges. Cut oranges in half and extract the juice. The only part you do not use is the seeds.
Use sharp knife or sharp scissors to cut up pulp and peel. The peel should be cut in very thin slices. Put juice, pulp and peel into an enamel pan (exam ple bottom half of a turkey roaster) with 1 2 cups of cold water. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, and sim mer the fruit for 5 minutes. Let the mixture stand in a cool place for 12 to 18 hours covered.
Return the kettle to the heat, bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer over low heat until the rind is tender. Measure the fruit mixture and return it to the kettle. For each cup of mixture add 1 cup sugar. (Will take about 18 cups of sugar). Cook the mix ture over med. heat, not so high that the mar malade sticks to pan, until it sheets from a spoon. (Jellying point). Stir frequently during this operation.
Ladle the marmalade into hot sterilized jars and seal them immediately with parafin. Yields ap proximately 20 half pints.

Christmas Customs Passed Down,
The wood is heavy and hard and used for many purposes. To make incense, the outer bark of the tree is peeled and the resin is collected after it dries. The incense was used in tem ple rituals and as a fumigant when animals were sacrificed.
While frankincense was symbolic of holiness bestowed by the Wise Men on the Christ child, myrrh was regarded as an omen of the suffering to be endured on earth.
Myrrh is a small, tree with knotty branches and thin papery bark. When

the bark is cut, a white gum seeps out and hardens. The aromatic gum is gathered and sold as a spice or medi cine.
Although frankincense and myrrh do not grow in our climate some trop-

in Biblical gardens. The trees require warm temperature and climate char acteristic of south Florida.

After the Christian faith was adopted, churchgoers valued a sprig used in the church's decorations. If the holly was worn to church on Christmas Eve, it was believed to give the person supernatural powers.
It was also believed that holly had mystical powers. Many planted it near their homes to ward off witches and protect residents from evil.
the basis for one of the most popular holiday customs.
Some early Christians believed the plant was evil and thought it was the "forbidden" fruit of the Garden of Eden. Although many Christians used it in their homes as a Christmas decoration but did not allow it in the church.

Another legend claims that a small, poor boy, going to church was sad and full of grief because he did not have a gift for Jesus. He prayed about this situation and when he got
up a plant with a bloom of dazzling red was before him. He broke off some twigs and took them to church.
The plant blooms at Christmas each year. The poinsettia is a beau

"When they saw the star, they rejoi ced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and wor shipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincen se and myrrh."
Matthew 2:10,11
Although frankincense and myrrh have been featured in previous years, there are no more appropriate Bibli cal plants to mention at Christmas than these two.
During the time of Christ, frankin cense and myrrh were much valued products. Besides their monetary worth, the two gifts were cherished ingredients in religion and temple rit ual.
Frankincense is an incense made from resinous gum. Because of its free-burning qualities, it was named
frank-incense which literally means 'free-lighting'. Besides its burning quality, frankincense also produces a pungent perfume.
The frankincense tree grows in the Himalayas. Its leaves resemble the mountain ash and the pink starshaped flowers are most attractive.

R. O. Valdosta How sad for you and your friends. To prevent shelled nuts from molding, refrigerate in closed, dry containers. If you want to keep them more than a month, it's a good idea to keep the nuts in the freezer. ****
