Attention Hog Farmers

VACCINATE WATCH

By PHIL CAMPBELL
Commissioner of Agriculture
Hog cholera outbreaks are continu ing to cause serious losses to hog farm ers in Bulloch, Coffee and surrounding counties.
The Georgia Department of Agri culture in cooperation with county agents, farm organizations, veterinari ans and Georgia hog farmers in south east Georgia has been working around the clock to halt this upsurge in chol era cases.
Farmers throughout the state have been busy during the past few weeks cultivating and planting. Many have failed to keep a check on their hogs and to vaccinate. Raising hogs may be a sideline in your farm operation. But no one wants cholera and there is certain ly no profit in sick hogs.
The only way cholera can be stop ped is with the cooperation of all Geor gia hog producers.
VACCINATE--If you live in or near one of the counties listed below, vac cinate your hogs with modified live virus in order to assure protection against cholera. If you do not live in the southeast section of Georgia and do not plan to purchase or sell hogs in the next two or three weeks, continued use

of crystal violet is advised. The killed vaccine is recommended as it is cheap er for the farmer to use, causes no af ter effects and carries no danger of spreading cholera.
WATCH -- Check your herd daily
for any evidence of sickness.
REPORT -- Report immediately any suspicion of cholera to your county agent, veterinarian or the Georgia De partment of Agriculture. If cholera is diagnosed in your herd, you will be paid full market value for any hogs lost to cholera.
DISPOSE -- Be sure all dead hogs
are buried or burned.
SALES EVENTS
JUNE 4, 1965 -- Auction Sale, 7:00 P.M., Horses and Ponies. To be held at Cir cle "T" Ranch, 10 miles west of Au gusta on Hwy. 104, Evans.
