WATCH-Check your herds carefully for any signs of cholera.
VACCINATE-Vaccinafe all hogs thoroughly and properly. If you need additional information on vaccination, contact your local veterinarian, county agent, or Georgia Department of Agriculture.
REPORT-Report any outbreak, or suspicion of cholera IMMEDIATELY to your county agent, local veterinarian, or the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Remember, the State cholera eradication program pays indemnity for hogs lost to cholera when you report cholera infection.
DISPOSE-Failure to properly dispose of dead hogs can spread cholera! All dead hogs should be completely burned or buried under three feet of dirt.

CEREAL AND FORAGE INSECTS COTTON INSECTS
THRIPS-light to moderate infestations on peanuts in southcentral and southwest Georgia.
DESCRIPTION - very small insect with rasping mouthparts. Some black, other yellow.
DAMAGE-usually found on the underside of the leaf and in the bud. Causes leaves to pucker up and look possum eared.
CORN EARWORM-light to moderate infestations in the whorls of corn throughout Georgia.
YELLOW-STRIPED ARMYWORM - heavy infestation in the whorls of corn in Crisp County.
FRUIT INSECTS
PLUM CURCULIO-infesting 100% of the fruit in an abandoned orchard in Douglas County.
GARDEN INSECTS
MEXICAN BEAN BEETLE-light to moderate infestations on beans throughout Georgia.
FLEA BEETLES - heavy infestations in northern half of the state on tomatoes, pepper and okra.
DESCRIPTION-small about the size of pin head, black to brown in color. Found mostly on the underside of the leaf, and jumps like a flea when disturbed.
DAMAGE-eat small holes about the size of the lead in a pencil in the leaves.
YELLOW - STRIPED ARMYWORM - light infestation on cotton in Colquitt County.
THRIPS-light to moderate infestations on cotton in south Georgia. Moderate to heavy infestations on cotton in north Georgia.
BOLLWORM-egg counts ranged from 0 to 13 per 100 terminals, averaging 4 per 100 terminals. Larval counts ranged from 0 to 8 per 100 terminals, averaging 3 per 100 terminals. Counts made in southcentral and southwest Georgia.
CATTLE INSECTS
HORN FLY-averaged 206 per animal in 2 herds in White County. Ranged from 143200 per animal in 3 untreated herds in Spalding County. Ranged from 2-101 in 16 treated herds in Spalding County. Averaged 195 on 2 untreated herds in Rabun County.
FACE FLY-ranged from 16-44 per animal on 2 herds in Rabun County.
DESCRIPTION - looks somewhat like a house fly. This insect will be found on the face of cows around the eyes and nostrils.
DAMAGE-irritate the cows causing them not to feed as they should.

NANTUCKET PINE MOTH - 30% of seedling pines infested in one tract in Douglas County.
ELM LEAF BEETLE-moderate defoliation of elm in Fulton and DeKalb Counties.

DESCRIPTION-green with white stripes, body tapers from the rear to the head. Moves with a looping motion. They are usu ally found on the underside of the leaves.
DAMAGE-feeding causes large holes in the leaves.
SLUGS-abundant on marigold and other flowers in north Atlanta.
MILLIPEDES - numerous in the Atlanta area.
