Attempts to control White-Fringed
beetle infestations in Georgia have been
carried out by state entomologists since
1947, Only control attempts were possible
up until recently because scientists had
not been able to come up with the neces-
sary materials to eradicate the pest. Scien-
tists have now provided the materials and
know how to completely eradicate the
beetle and thanks to Governor Vandiver,
eradication measures can begin in the
near future,
Entomologist are confident that all out
_ eradication can be obtained at far less cost
in the long run than a continued program
of attempted control and suppression.
They consider the White-Fringed beetle
such a threat to Georgia crops it must be
eradicated, now that eradication measures
can be effectively carried out.
Governor Vandivers immediate re-
sponse to our request for financial aid in-
dicates his sincere desire to assist Georgia
