dent, of Canton, Ga., announced this week.

Harold Ford, of Decatur, Ga., who has

served as director of organization of the

succeeding Paul Williams, of Richmond.

Virginia State Poultry Federation since
February 1955, will continue to serve both
organizations as legislative representative
and editor-in-chief of the two association

Letter Explains Needs
Of Leaf Warehouses

The following letter received in
my office the latter part of this past
week is reprinted here in the belief
that it will be of interest to ware-
housemen as well as other representa-
tives of the Georgia flue-cured tobac- |
co industry. :

PHIL CAMPBELL

Commissioner

Honorable Phil Campbell
Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture
Atlanta, Georgia.

Dear Phil:

I have today received copy of the fol- |
lowing telegram from Mr. Joe R. Williams, |
Director, Tobacco Division, C. S. S.,
U.S.D.A. to the Flue-Cured Stabilization
Corporation as follows:

The early opening date in Georgia-
Florida has placed a tremendous responsi-
bility for quick action on department in
enforcing the variety discount program.

Please do not execute a contract with any ~ e

warehouse until it has submitted proof
that it has tobacco basket tickets with
which to clearly distinguish the full sup-
port from the limited support variety to-
bacco.

Also, under the marketing regulations,
the serial number on the growers allot-
ment card must appear on the warehouse
records prior to the time the tobacco is

offered for sale in order to qualify the _

growers tobacco for full support price.
The only feasible way to get this done is
for the grower to present his allotment
card to the warehouse scales at the time
the tobacco is offered for weighing.

I do not wish to burden you but any
help that you can give in getting this in-
formation to both growers and warehouse-
men will be very greatly appreciated.

With kindest personal regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

F. S. Royster,
Managing Director
Bright Belt Whse.
