Meat Types Should
Bring Greater Income

(Editors Note: This is the second in a
series of articles on hogs in Georgia)

Georgia research workers have
launched new programs for swine re-
search which should bring up some new
ideas on swine breeding and feeding prac-

we dont believe that swine research has
received quite the attention as has cattle
and poultry research during the past few
years.

But the progress outlook for swine
production in Georgia does not hinge en-
tirely on breeding, feeding and disease
control programs. One important phase
that needs greater attention is the market-
ing of superior meat-type hogs once they
are produced by the farmer.

officer of the Agricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Committee.

Georgia wheat growers will vote on
the 1958 wheat marketing quotas on June
20, Bradley says.

The newly announced supports of $1.-
78 reflects 75 percent of the estimated
transitional parity price. With quotas in
effect, this minimum average support

We here in the State Department of
Agriculture have discussed this matter
with meat packers. They have told us
they want the meat-type hog. In many in-
stances packers, especially at the packing

the meat-type hog but too often farmers
_ are not receiving this better price out in
as me state,
