You will see that the eleven agencies
of the State listed above received $227,-

826,058.12 of State funds which amount-

ed to 95.4% of the total State revenue.
This left onlv 4.6% of the eurrent reve-
nue or $10,861,772.31 to finance all the
thirty - nine State agencies listed below.
However, there were transfers totaling
$9,499,473.74 from the surplus funds of

the State, making available that amount

in excess of current revenue.

IGTAR $248,187,304.17

Tf you abolished all of the last

named thirty - nine departments of State
Government, you would save less than
ten percent of the States Revenue.

Actually the distribution of State
money for the year ended June 30, 1953
exceeded State ineome by the amount
of $9 499,473.74. It_was necessary for the
Governor, hy Executive Order, to trans-
fer this last named amotnt from accumu-
lated surplus to keep the States opera-
tions going.

The amount of money in surplus
funds has declined from more than thirty
million dollars two years ago to fifteen
million dollars as of now; and, present
indications are. that surplus funds will
be entirely exhausted by the end of the
next twelve months period.

The follewing figures are from the
Audit. rs Otfice:

Surplus June 30, 1952
Surplus June 30, 1953

Anticipated Surplus
June 30, 1954 15,000,000.00

Allotments have already been set up for
$12,000,000.00 effective 7/1/54 (Education
and Welfare).

BEWARE

ee hee $30,214,585.67
20,715,111.93

study these figures and you will see
that the State has about reached the limit
of exoenditures based on present tax laws
and ur.der present economic conditions.

Beware of anyone making promises
of mcre money and more services from
the State. Rigid economy in State spend-
ing will be required just to keep even
with the board in State financing.
