houses which are produced on American
farms.

; INCOMES
dn the family household, the income
is the amount of flour, eorn, meal, meat,

lard, vegetables, cloth, elothing, shoes, .

medicine, ete., that the housewife has
with which to run her household,

The outgo of the family household
is that portion of these supplies that is
used up or destroyed. oe

The REAL income of every fam-
ily 4nd every individual consists of the
necessities and luxuries which they re-
ceive. The outgo is -the part used up
or destroyed. -

z MONEY
Money is not wealth,

Tf every dollar of money in the
United States was destroyed today, no
wealth would be lost. There would be
just as much wealth as before. The
difference would be that people who
have money would lose their interest in
that wealth. They would lose the prom-
ise to pay. They would lose their writ-

* ten evidence of an interest in wealth.
If the amount of money were doubled
no wealth would be added. We would
still have the same, wealth as before.
The difference would be that a dollar
would represent only one half as much
interest in wealth.

When you deposit
house receipts in a bank these cotton
warehouse receipts represent wealth in
cotton,

When you deposit grain elevator
receipts in a bank these grain elevator
receipts represent wealth in grain.

When you deposit money in a bank,
this money represents your interest in
any commodity which you may elect.
The money is not your wealth, but it
represents your interest in wealth, It is a
promise to pay.

WAGES

When any group undertakes by ar-
bitrary methods to increase. their wages,
fees or profits, they are simply under-
taking to obtain a larger interest in
REAL wealth which is food, clothing,
housing, ete,

2 : DIVISION

Agriculture, mining, transportation,

| business, industry, and banking consti-
tute the machinery for procssing and

dividing among all. the people, the raw e
materials which are produced by farm-

ers and miners. :

REAL wages, REAL profit and
REAL income of all groups are meas-
ured in food, clothing, housing, medicine, ~
eter es

The. national income is simply the
sum total of all other incomes.

The percentage of the national in-
come received by any given group such
as the farmers, the factory workers, the
business men, etc., is in its last analysis
the percentage of food, housing, cloth-
ing, medicine, etc., received by that
group.

Since the farmer and miner produce
the food, clothing, housing, medicine,
heat, etc., which is divided among all of
the people it naturally follows that the
more the farmer and miner produce,
the more there is fer every group when
it is-fairly divided.

When only a part of the farmers -
cotton is spun and sold over the counter,
the farmer has less clothing and so does @
everyone else. The real reason the farm-
er has more cotton than is spun and
sold over the counter is because other
groups are not permitted to turn their
labor into an interest in the nations
wealth. (We have never had more cot-
ton than the people of the country need-
ed. Maladjustment of labor and distri-
bution caused uhder consumption. Our
economists could see the cotton, but they
could not see under consumption, there-
fore they said we had a surplus of cotton).

The more wheat the farmer produces,
the more bread there is, both for the ~

farmer and all other groups.

PRICES

; The farmer, as a group, is the largest
* purchaser of cotton goods, wheat, corn,

meat, steel, houses and medicine.

Let the farmer get a price for his
crops that enables him to buy back his
fair portion, in the finished form, of
food, clothing, houses and medicine.

_ Let other groups use their labor, full
time, in processing and merchandising

all that the farmer produces. a

When other groups can_ labor,
time, in transporting, processing, and
-merchandising what the farmer produces,
then the uther groups get their full share

of full production on the land.

When the farmer gets low prices he
is not able to buy his fair portion, in the
finished form, of food, clothing, housing

and medicine.

Then other groups can use only a
portion of their labor in transporting,

ee Ehe more beef and hogs the farmer
produces, the more meat there is, both
_ for the farmer and the other groups. *
