day of the first month ahich is the same
as our April 4. Christ arose on the 16th
day of the first month; which is the same
as our April 6. It therefore necessarily
follows that the 6th day of April each
year is actually the anniversary of the -
day on which Christ arose from the tomb.
If we had a correct calendar, the 6th
day of April would always come on Sun-
day. The 5th day of April would be the
Jewish Sabbath, and the 4th day of April
is the anniversary of the crucifixion. -
Jam writing this on Saturday, April 6,
1946. Today is actually Easter.
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never
_ read in the scriptures, The Stone which
the builders rejected, the same is become
the head of the corner: this is the Lords
doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10, Luke 20:17.
In olden times the cornerstone or the cor-
ner represented the strength of the build-
ing.
~ The cdrnerstone or corner. was also the
basis of all measurements for the build-
ing.
The size of the building was
mined by the cornerstone.
The length and breadth of the building
was measured from the cornerstone.
The height of the corner or cornerstone
also determined the height of the build-
ing.
All measurement of ee
deter-
stone. The cornerstone is marked indeli-
bly by Christ on the Cross on Golgothas
Hill overlooking the Holy City of Jeru-
salem.
When we measure backward and for-.
ward from the year 33 Anno Domini, the
year of the Cross, we find outstanding
epochal events in the same number of
years after the Cross and the same num-
ber of years before the Cross. To illus-
trate, it was 1456 years measured from
the Cross back to the killing of the lambs
in Egypt which marked the Exodus of
the Children of Israel to a new world.
1456 years after the Cross, we find
Christopher Columbus at the Spanish
Courts seeking funds to outfit ships to dis-
cover the new world. It was the discovery
of America that brought an Exodus of
_ those seeking religious liberty out of the
old world and into the new.
in: Bible*
Prophecy must be made from the corner-
the Cross we find Moses slaying the
Egyptians and fleeing out of the country.
1512 years after the Cross we find the
British Parliament making the Church of
olic Church. 1050 years before the Cross
Cross, Jerusalem was overrun by the
Turks and the Christians were massacred.
1890 years before the Cross, Joseph was
sold into Egyptian bondage, while 1890
and Roosevelt. The same period marked
the downfall of Winston Churchill in
Great Britain, who was subsequently re-
instated to lead the British peoples in the
second great world conflict. 1764 years
before the Cross marked the beginning
of the 400 years of oppression in Iigypt,
while 1764 years after the Cross merked
the imprisonment of the Pope as Repre-
sentative of the Church by Napoleon
Bonaparte.
There are a great many more outstand-
ing events in history that could be ci*ed
along this line. The outstanding fact is
2007 A. D. will mark the time when the
Christian era or the day of the Gentiles
will have continued as many years as
riage of Jacob, the Father of Israel, down
to the year of the Cross. it other words,
the Jewish era and the Gentile era will
have continued the same number of years.
Christ came to earth at the end of the
Jewish era. It is logical, as well as in ac-
prophecy, that He will return at a time
not far from the close of the Gentile era
or the day of the Gentiles. :
Conditions existing throughout the
world today, I believe are unfailing signs
of the approaching time when He will re-
turn.
The decay of the organized churches
unmistakably marks the trend away from
the fundamentals of the Bible and toward
what its leaders call modernism, is exact-
ly in-line with conditions today. ;

Editorial By FOM LINDER
Under the provisions of the Agricul-
tural Marketing Agreement Act passed
by Congress in 1937, farmers of pre-
scribed areas producing the same com-
modity can associate themselves together
under a Marketing Agreement and mar-
ket in an orderly manner according to
size and grade.
In the Spring of 1949, following some
rather disastrous marketing experiences,
pecan growers of five Southeastern
States, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida,
Alabama and Mississippi interested the
United States Department of Agriculture
to provide hearings throughout the area
with the idea in view of inaugurating a
Marketing Agreement and Order to en-
able them to market Dee quality pe-
cans;
The Act provides that a minimum of
two-thirds of the growers voting in the
referendum must approve the Marketing
Agreement, and the approval of shippers
representing over 50 percent of the ton-
nage shipped from the area.
_ These Marketing Agreements origi-
nate in the producing area. The purpose
is to enable a more effective method of
merchandising the pecan crop and all the
provisions as to its operation are thor-
oughly discussed at public hearings .so
that each producer will know exactly
what the requirements are at the time
the referendum is held. The Agreement
and Order was approved by 83 percent
of the growers voting and the required

shippers. It became effective September
20, 1949.
It is administered by a nine man com-
mittee selected throughout the 5-state
area. The personnel of the committee is |
apportioned according to -tonnage pro-
duced in various states. Georgia is di-
vided into four districts, therefore, hav-
ing four representatives on the Growers
Committee, This Committee is assisted
in evaluing marketing prospects by a
Pecan Handlers - Advisory Committee,
consisting of nine representatives appor-
tioned as above, representing the han-
dlers of pecans. Georgia has four mem-.
bers on the Advisory Committee: Florida
1, Alabama 2, Mississippi 1, and South
Carolina 1. The above committees are
nominated annually by the growers and
handlers, subject to approval by the Sec- |
retary of Agriculture.
It was stipulated in the Pecan ees
ment, in 1949, that the Agreement and
Order would be put into effect for a pe-_
riod of three years, therefore, it becomes -
necessary to hold another referendum to
give the growers an opportunity to ex-
press themselves in regard to a continua-
tion of the Agreement. During the latter /
aa of February and the 1st of March,
ight heayings were held in the major
Georgia,
which was to give the growers an oppor-
tunity to discuss the Agreement ahd its
operation. A referendum has been called
for April 7 to 18, at which time every
grower of pecans throughout the five pro-
ducing states will be asked to vote in
favor of the continuation or termunation Ss

-erease in corn production may also be important to Geor-
-.profitable yields of corn.
By George H. King, Associate Director
Georgia College Of Agriculture Experiment: Stations
With an estimated decrease in corn acreage of 5,000,000
acres in the United States for 1952, it becomes important
for the Georgia livestock producer to make every effort to
supply his own needs. This is particularly true of those)
producers who have been buying out- of-state- corn. In-
gians from a corn meal standpoint since about one half of
the corn purchased in the state by millers comes from
without the state.
The Georgia producer may protect himself in either or
both of two ways, first, by an increase in corn acreage and,
second, by increased yields per acre. Regardless of the |
number of acres, every effort should be made to secure the
optimum yield per acre. This may be done by two major
means. First, the farmer should select the hybrid or varie-
ty best suited to his locality.. These. have been suggested
in a recent issue of the MARKET BULLETIN. After
proper seed have been selected, applications of fertilizer
should be made with a yield of 50 to 60 bushels of corn per!
acre as the goal. |
In general, there should be at least 8,000 corn plants |
per acre to take advantage of heavy applications of fertili-
zer. The use of 400 to 500 pounds of 4-8-8 at planting and
200 to 400 pounds (depending on the stand at time of ap-|
plication) of nitrate of soda or its equivalent will produce |
Another way in which farmers may protect themselves
from an impending grain shortage is by the planting of
grain sorghum. Possibly the most popular grain sorghum is
Hegari, commonly called Hi-gear. When planted in
rows, about 30 pounds of seed per acre should be sufficient.
Fertilizing with 400 to 600 pounds of a complete Seer,
will make nrofitable returns. ;
