each of these ginners for an estimate
on how the. 1945 crop in. his section
would compare with the 1946 crop.
Out of the nine one said about the
same as 1945. One ginner estimated
about ninety percent of the 1945 erop.
One estimated eighty-five percent of
the 1945 crop. Three estimated eighty
percent of the 1945 crop and three esti-.

The average of these estimates on the
1946 crop is eighty- two percent of the
1945 erop.
At the meeting, in Washington Wed-
nesday, September. 4, it was agreed by
the Department of Agriculture to raise
the ceiling on cottonseed oil, cottonseed
meal, cottonseed hulls and linters.
Action to actually raise this ceiling
was left to the OPA. Mr. Porter, of
OPA, now takes the position that it is
up to Seeretary of Agriculture Ander-
son to issue a directive to put higher
ceilings into effect. .

Farmers in Georgia who still have
1945 cotton under Commodity Credit
Corporation loans should take immedi-
ate .teps to reclaim this cotton for if it
| qs not redeemed by October 1, 1946, it
will be pooled, as provided in the loan
agreement, and sold. :
Failure to redeem this cotton will
mean that title will pass from the farm-

loss to them.
Toans matured July 31 and cotton
still in the loan is being carried in a
past-due status with producers having
the right to repayment any time prior
to October 1.
Based on the present market, farm-
