The Agricultural Committees of the
Senate and House have been invited to

Linder Boomed For
Agriculture Cabinet Post

From The Atlanta. Constitution.
Issue of May 9, 1945

Appointment of Georgias Agricultur-
al Commissioner Tom Linder to President
Truman s cabinet has been urged by farm-

ers of five midwestern states.

The Indiana Farmers Guild has se
the Southern States Commissions of Agri-
culture to seek appointment of either Sen.
Elmer. Thomas, of Oklahoma, or Linder
as secretary of agriculture. The Indiana
Guild has members in Ohio, Iowa, Illinois,
and Missouri.

In a letter to C. C. _Hanion, secretary
of the southern commissioners, of Wash-
ington, D. C., President Osean B. Smith,
of Frankfort, Ind., said: Our directors
asked me to take whatever steps I could
to bring about the appointment of either
of these outstanding friends of American

- agriculture.

Linder, legislative chairman of the Nat-
ional Association of Commissioners of Ag-

riculture, is directly opposed to the agri- .

cultural philosophy of Former Secretary.
of Agriculture Henry A. ~ Wallace, a a native
of Jows. ee
